NZ Royal Visit 1953-4

These New Zealand government service (eg parliamentary, officials, etc) buttons show the country’s coat of arms.

The fern is a symbol of New Zealand. The symbols on the shield represent the country’s trade, agriculture, industry and sea trade. The above was warranted by King George V on 26th August, 1911. The second version, below, was issued by Elizabeth II in 1956.

Elizabeth visited 46 towns and cities over the 1953-4 summer. The medals were presented to school children to commemorate this tour. On the observe was her profile.
