British Regiment buttons: The King’s Own Regiment, or 4th Foot
Detachments of The King’s Own Regiment, or 4th Foot, were used as guards on convict ships to Australia from 1832. Detachments were stationed in Sydney, Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and Swan River (Perth) until 1837.
The above article made an error. The Lion of this regiment is passant (walking, with the right forepaw raised) guardant (with its head turned to full face) not rampant (rearing up on its hind legs).
