Buttons in the News

The following article was printed in newspapers around the country …

January 1940.

If the story is true, and not an exaggeration, the buttons must have been in boxes or bags awaiting carding. I can’t quite picture a foot deep pile of buttons just “falling off” a lorry. They weren’t transported loose by the truck load, although they were imported in cases.
