Dating from the late 1940s come these flower shaped buttons.

This example from the late 1970s-early 1980s has “Militaires Equipments” trouser buttons. These turn up in button tins all the time. I wonder if they were ever really made for military use, or French, or were always just a fashion item? I did some googling, and found a card stamped “Made in Kong Kong” featuring these buttons.
