Colonial Uniforms

Here are some additions to recent colonial military stories. The following illustrations are photographs printed between 1940 and 1950 from originals taken between 1850 and 1900 from the Argus Newspaper Collection of Photographs; State Library of Victoria.

This Carlton Volunteer Rifle Corps uniform is similar to that of the Ballarat Rifles: http://www.austbuttonhistory.com/uncategorized/28th-october-2020/

The Carlton company existed from 1860-1871.

The uniforms below were quoted as from two from Melbourne and its suburbs, 1859-1875, but did not state which companies.
