Self-Cover Buttons

If you want fabric covered buttons to match your clothing, you could go to a button covering service (many were advertised) or cover your own button moulds. These self-cover button kits made it easier to create a smooth firm finish. In some a two part button could be snapped over a circle of fabric. In the Korbond version, the fabric circle was drawn over the mould  with a running stitch, then caught under “teeth” on the underside.

This is a better design; the fabric doesn’t have to be laboriously poked under the teeth. The washer with the teeth is separate, and pushed down over the edges of the fabric.
