The Australia Hotel

Backmark: Stokes & Sons Melbourne

The Australia Hotel, located in Castlereagh Street Sydney, was opened in 1891, closed in 1971 then demolished. It had been considered the ‘best known’ and the ‘premier’ hotel in Australia and was ‘the place to stay’ for the rich and famous.
