A mystery solved?

The finder of this uniform button was a bit over-excited. It was from the 14th Regiment of Foot. The Regiment had history at Waterloo (1815), in India (1807-1831) and during the Maori Wars (1860-66) but not the individual button! The Age (Melbourne), 26th July 1933 page 14. The backmark probably indicates it was made by Birmingham button maker ‘Armfield’, but possibly by London manufacturer Samuel Firmin (although the family company existed from 1677).
