Victorian Volunteers part 2: 1884-1903

Victorian Rifle Regiments 1880-1890 (per Cossum).

 

In 1884 it was decided to replace the Victorian Volunteer forces with a militia (part time, partially paid). The militia was continued until Federation. However, most units that existed before 1884 remained in existence.

The Age (Melbourne), 10th June 1891 page 7. Note this is the badge design, but it dates the change of motto.

Victorian Military Forces 1879-1892. Similar to the universal NSW pattern, but with a star instead of a lion in the centre.
