Embassy
G. J. Coles started this branding for gramophone record in 1930, but came to use it for a huge variety of products, including clothing, hardware, toiletries, manchester, stationary, haberdashery, food, cleaning products, etc. The large buying power of retailers like Coles allow them to negoiate lower prices for products sold under house brands. Coles started this in 1947 when manufacturers were refusing to sell to them because of their price cutting practices (according to the Bulletin magazine, 1st September 1973). However, I have found Embassy products (barring the Embassy gramaphone records that dated from 1929) dating from 1936.
