An update on brace-buttons from “Health, Husbandry and Handicraft”.
I visit this topic regularly, as these buttons turn up in all old button tins, and are often found by metal dectorists. They are also known as pants or suspender buttons, ubiquitous but useful.
The 1861 book “Health, Husbandry and Handicraft” gives a description of their manufacture.
